The handle of a scythe; a snead. [Variously written in
England {snead}, {sneed}, {sneath}, {sneeth}, {snathe}, etc.;
in Scotland written {sned}.]

into alices, sn[imac][eth]a to cut; akin to AS. besn[=ae]dan,

snei[thorn]an to cut, to reap, and E. snath, snithe.]
