  • How many sides does a circle have? - Mathematics Stack Exchange
If a triangle has 3 sides, and a rectangle has 4 sides, how many sides does a circle have? My first reaction was "0" or "undefined" But my son wrote "$\infty$" which I think is a reasonable answer However, it was marked wrong with the comment, "the answer is 1" Is there an accepted correct answer in geometry?
  • Does $\pi$ contain all possible number combinations?
$\pi$ Pi Pi is an infinite, nonrepeating $ ($ sic $)$ decimal - meaning that every possible number combination exists somewhere in pi Converted into ASCII text, somewhere in that infinite string of digits is the name of every person you will ever love, the date, time and manner of your death, and the answers to all the great questions of the universe Is this true? Does it make any sense ?
  • What does it mean for an integral to be convergent?
Does it make sense to talk about a number being convergent divergent? It's fixed and does not change with respect to the independent variable Moreover, if the improper integral is defined as the value of the limit only if the limit exists, then in cases where limit does not exist, the " $$\int_a^\infty f (x) \, dx$$ " is literally undefined

  • auxiliary verbs - Does anyone has or have - English Language . . .
Here, I wish to ask a question of the form: Does anyone has have a black pen? What is the correct form of verb which should be used here? I understand that for "anyone", it should be has, as in: Has anyone got a black pen? But my doubt here is because of the auxilliary "does" in the question Will that cause any change to the choice of has have?
  • When to use is vs. does when asking a question?
When do I use is or does when I ask a question? For example, Is your item still for sale? Does your item still for sale? I am not sure which one to use
  • grammaticality - Does this vs Is this (grammar) - English Language . . .
(I assume you mean "Does this belong to you?" You can't use is because do is the auxiliary verb we use when forming questions From the Cambridge Grammar website: Do is one of three auxiliary verbs in English: be, do, have We use do to make negatives (do + not), to make question forms, and to make the verb more emphatic
  • What does it mean to have a determinant equal to zero?
What does it mean to have a determinant equal to zero? Ask Question Asked 12 years, 11 months ago Modified 3 years, 3 months ago
  • What is it like? Vs. What does it look like?
What does X look like? You are explicitly asking about the look or appearance of something You are using look to mean: to appear or seem If you took this question literally, your answer would focus on the appearance of Canada It looked beautiful: there was such a great balance between urban architecture and green spaces
